Learn about Hariak's itineraries and recommendations.

Strategic itineraries and recommendations are key elements in a strategy, as they help to organise and guide practical actions to address loneliness effectively.

This section presents Hariak's strategic itineraries, which are like routes that guide you along a path towards important goals related to loneliness. These itineraries propose a direction to follow and aspects to take into account in order to achieve specific goals.

Hariak has developed four strategic itineraries, each accompanied by action-oriented recommendations. These recommendations are designed to help organisations identify and develop initiatives in the prevention and management of loneliness. In addition, it is specified which types of organisations could implement these recommendations, thus facilitating collaboration and networking.

We invite you to explore these itineraries, learn about the route they propose and discover the corresponding recommendations for each.
In Gipuzkoa, several entities are acting alongside people who feel lonely. However, it is still not clear who is doing exactly what.
Some people who could help may not know how to do so.
In addition, there are not many clear and defined ways of working between different entities, sharing ideas, using common resources or deciding who leads what kind of action.
Sometimes when we talk about loneliness, discourses can be:
  • Confusing: There are many different terms and we don't always use the same language.

  • Biased: Sometimes we focus on certain groups or causes of loneliness and forget others.

  • Stigmatising: We often only associate loneliness with negative things and oversimplify loneliness.

  • Self-serving: Sometimes there are political, commercial or other interests behind what is said.

  • Alarmist: Sometimes we use words that scare people without offering solutions.

  • Ephemeral: We often talk about loneliness in a superficial and non-durable way.

We want to promote clear, inclusive, positive, constructive, empowering and sustaining conversations about loneliness.
It is important to strengthen, expand, improve, change and make more visible the set of actions to respond to loneliness in Gipuzkoa. Our main objective is to innovate and expand these actions. This is the key path, because these actions and the people who carry them out in our community will help us to improve and overcome the situations of loneliness faced by some people.
Although there has been research and evidence on how actions to respond to loneliness affect people, there are still aspects that are unknown and not fully understood. It is therefore very important to evaluate the Hariak strategy, its actions and projects, and to learn from the practice, research and prevention of loneliness. With what we learn, we will be able to question what we already know and improve it, as well as to develop better ideas, theories of how to make changes, ways to measure and evaluate what we do.
By putting the recommendations into practice, we are enabling Hariak to achieve its goals.
