What is the Hariak theory of change?
A theory is an idea or set of ideas that attempts to explain how and why things happen. With this theory of change, Hariak proposes how our actions work and how we expect things to improve. We assume (and then have to verify) how our actions cause effects and what changes we expect to see as a result.
Hariak proposes that there are at least 12 basic ways of dealing with situations of loneliness, linked to three different approaches to prevent them:
Primary Prevention
These actions seek to foster connections and relationships so that everyone feels included and united, without focusing specifically on situations of risk or loneliness.
Secondary Prevention
These actions aim to reduce risks related to loneliness in situations where people may feel (are at risk of feeling) lonely or isolated.
Actions in and for situations of risk of loneliness
Tertiary Prevention
These actions aim to reduce, alleviate or compensate for loneliness in situations where people are already experiencing feelings of loneliness.
