About Adinberri

The ADINBERRI Foundation is an instrument of the regional government of Gipuzkoa and the society of the territory to strategically contribute to the study of and innovative approaches to the revolution in longevity (and the range of associated phenomena) and the challenges and opportunities they represent. And the social, social-health and economic aspects will be addressed all along the way. It is also a reference centre that was born in the framework of Etorkizuna Eraikiz, which is an initiative driven by the regional government of Gipuzkoa.

ADINBERRI’s mission is to tackle the challenges of the new longevity (active-healthy ageing with value and meaning oriented towards a full life) with anticipation and innovation, chiefly applied to preventing fragility and dependence. And they will complement the activities of the department of social policy and care of the regional government and attract all actors with public-private-community governance to improve the wellbeing of people (55+) and create economic and employment opportunities.

Their vision is to make Gipuzkoa a leading territory in the common achievement of gaining years of healthy life. They will be backed up by collaborative governance between government authorities, knowledge agents, the business system, third-sector and societal entities to jointly drive knowledge and innovation applied at the reference centre and its associated innovation units, like the potential innovation pole.

Currently, they have a new strategic innovation agenda for 2024-2017. It is a reconstructed roadmap in conjunction with the ecosystem of actors who work collectively to provide responses to the primary challenges associated with ageing and a society that is living longer and longer. Together, they are building a society for all ages, with an intergenerational point of view.

In this context, the preventive focus in the policies aimed at preparing people and society as a whole to deal with a society where people are living longer emerges as a key factor for delaying and slowing the advent of fragility and dependence. This space of socio-health action, where other policies like ones for public health, also play a significant role, is where ADINBERRI wants to focus preferentially on this SIA and contribute a specific and differential value in its institutional framework through carrying out tractor projects that articulate their agenda, always with innovation oriented towards action and collaborative governance.
